Mr. Matsumoto is a Senior Managing Director and Head of the Representative Office in Tokyo, Japan. He has over 35 years of experience in distribution (placement agency) and capital markets. In his current role, Mr. Matsumoto provides advisory services to the firm’s Japan based clients and leads various business development initiatives.
Mr. Matsumoto joined Atago Pacific Investment Partners from Mitsubishi UFJ Alternative Investments (“MUAlts”), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Trust Bank where he served as an Executive Officer and the Head of the Placement Agency and Distribution business. Mr. Matsumoto worked with global alternative investment managers to raise capital from Japanese investors. Key clients include Apollo Global Management, Capula Investment Management, Global Infrastructure Partners, I Squared Capital, Insight Partners, KPS Capital Partners, One Rock Capital Partners and Pomona Capital.
Prior to MUAlts, Mr. Matsumoto was a banker focused on fixed income and credit products with Tokai Tokyo Securities, Mitsubishi UFJ Securities, UBS Securities Japan, and Goldman Sachs. Mr. Matsumoto holds a BA in Economics from Kyoto University.
