Our History

Atago Pacific was founded in 2003 in Tokyo, Japan by Michael Marshall and was one of the first middle market buyout firms in the country. Mr. Marshall has over 30 years in private equity, real estate investments, and advisory experience. Mr. Marshall has invested and advised on more than $20 billion of private equity and real estate transactions across industries and product types through multiple cycles.

Michael Marshall founded PineRidge Partners, one of the first investment firms in Japan

2007

PineRidge grows to 12 operating companies with ~ $2.0 billion in revenue

2008

Created partnership with a Middle Eastern investor and a U.S. Real Estate Asset Manager to acquire Hotel Portfolio

2008

PineRidge Partners creates its Cross Border Advisory business

2009

PineRidge works with a U.S. Real Estate Asset Manager to acquire a U.S. Office portfolio

2010

PineRidge changes name to Atago Pacific and expands operations to the United States

2011

Atago Pacific formally moves operations to the United States

2011

Atago Pacific creates its Fund Management business

2018

Atago Pacific enters a strategic fee alliance with ITOCHU International to source Japanese investment Capital
